Metso Australia is seeking a motivated, highly technical Service Technician to join our high achieving Service team.

This challenging role will be based in Tomago and will report to the Service Team Leader – Newcastle.  

About the role:

The successful applicant will play a crucial part in performing and coordinating service activities relating to machines, spares and wears, and providing customers with technical services in conjunction with sales. In addition to this, other key responsibilities will include;

• Provide technical liaison services between customers, product divisions and sales personnel.
• Provide hands-on mechanical service work in the field to Metso customers.
• Perform technical evaluations and analyse equipment and machine component failures.
• Install and commission systems, machinery and associated spare parts and wear material components.
• Train and inform customers in maintenance and service of products.
• Identify service repair work as well as sales opportunities for machines, spares and wears parts.
• Ensure confidentiality of proprietary company information and operate with the highest ethical and moral standards always.
• Cooperate with other departments and functions to ensure customer satisfaction is maintained and exhibited always.

About you:

Essential Criteria

• A Mechanical trade qualification from college or technical school; or three to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience must include at least two years from one or several of the following industries: mining, aggregate or contract crushing.
• Experience with the maintenance of crushing, screening and processing equipment.
• Basic computer literacy in MS Office – Word and Excel
• Must have current motor vehicle license and passport.
• Must be able to pass random medical and drug tests.
• Must be physically fit.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent negotiation and presentation skills.
• Ability to travel within short notice.

Desirable

• Experience with the maintenance of crushing and screening equipment.
• Experience in the usage of databases, Lotus Notes and MS Project.
