The Faculty of Arts – Social SciencesWe are seeking a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to contribute to the success of the School of Social Sciences within the Faculty of Arts. The position involves delivering excellent teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate studies, producing outstanding research published in highly regarded publication outlets and supervision of postgraduate students including PhD students.

About Politics and International RelationsPolitics and International Relations is part of the School of Social Sciences at the University of Auckland, New Zealand’s only top-100 university. It has a strong internationally recognised research profile and staff are currently engaged in teaching and supervision in a broad range of fields aligned with Politics and Public Policy within the School. We currently have a vacancy for Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Politics / Political Science in the fields of International Relations or Comparative Politics.

Our ideal candidateWill hold a PhD in Politics/Political Science with a specialisation in one or more of the following topics: terrorism; political violence; radicalisation; and/or violent conflict. You must be both theoretically and empirically engaged in the field. You will be required to teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses on the above topics and you should be a committed and engaging teacher able to provide exciting research-led teaching. You should possess a strong record of publications in high quality journals and/or books and a record of success in gaining external research funding. You will be required to supervise PhD, master, and other graduate students. You will also be required to contribute to service within the School of Social Sciences.
