UK College of Business and Computing (UKCBC) is an established provider of Higher Education.  The College currently operates from five campuses across London and has a growing student population.

UKCBC has a partnership with a UK university to deliver degree provision to level 6 and this is a growing provision within the institution. This role will primarily focus on the degree provision, although there will be some requirement to teach and provide support for the HND provision.

Key responsibilities

  • To provide successful leadership of a programme or suite of programmes, leading to high student achievement and high levels of student satisfaction.
  • To lead the development of the programme(s) by monitoring and actively enhancing academic standards, taking account of sector trends, stakeholder perspectives and NSS and DLHE results.
  • To undertake regular monitoring of module performance, student progression and annual programme review.
  • Where appropriate, to lead activity in relation to accreditations with professional bodies and preparations for external quality inspections and reviews.
  • To work with administrative colleagues and the Academic Dean to ensure that an appropriate timetable is prepared and staffed.
  • To work close with the Academic Dean to manage the work of academic staff who deliver the programme(s). This includes, the allocation and monitoring of teaching workloads, staff development, conduct, personal development reviews and performance.
  • To support Academic Dean in relation to annual and periodic review and contribute to the enhancement of existing and development and planning of new awards within the college.
  • To work closely with partnership colleagues to ensure seamless provision and adherence to partner policies and regulations, where appropriate.
  • Deliver high standards of teaching and learning; contributing up to 12 hours of teaching per week.
  • Ensuring timely assessment and feedback to students.
  • Supervise student projects and dissertations
  • Provide learning support and studies advice to students, including maintaining e-learning resources for the module.
  • Module leadership - which includes development of materials for designated modules, ensuring marking is undertaken in a timely fashion and to a high standards, collection of feedback and production of module reports for designated modules and attendance at relevant subject board(s). Module leaders are also expected to co-ordinate the module team and work alongside counterparts in partner institutions to ensure seamless provision and delivery of modules, where appropriate.
  • Participate in staff development activities and the peer observation scheme.
  • Any other duties that may reasonably be requested by the management team in order to meet specific academic and administrative requirements.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Minimum Master’s degree in a relevant subject.
  • Minimum two years’ teaching and assessment experience on UK degree programmes to level 6.
  • Significant experience of module leadership and assessment design.
  • Teaching qualification or be prepared to work towards completion.
  • Experience in curriculum design and evaluation
  • Commitment to and understanding of the development of students of diverse backgrounds.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adaptably to meet the changing needs of the organisation.

Desirable:

  • PhD or Professional Doctorate in a relevant subject.
  • Experience as course or programme leader.
  • Experience teaching Pearson qualifications.
  • Network with relevant employers and industry sector related to the specialism.
  • Experience of teaching at level 7.
