The UCL Cancer Institute is a £40 million investment in central London based at University College London (UCL), one of the world’s top universities and a founding member of the Crick Institute. UCL Cancer Institute draws together over 300 scientists working together to develop world-class basic and translational cancer research. 

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Research Technician to join the Cell Communication lab at the UCL Cancer Institute. The successful applicant will aid the development of advanced mass-spectrometry and mass-cytometry technology to study cell-cell signalling in organoid models of colorectal cancer. 

The duties and responsibilities of the post holder include but are not limited to: planning, performing, analysing and interpreting experiments under the direction of the grant holder, Dr. Chris Tape, with the aim of creating research tools and of furthering knowledge related to the research project; performing experiments to understand cell signaling using advanced high-dimensional mass-cytometry; making figures for internal and external presentations, drafting manuscripts for publication. 

The post is funded by CRUK for a period of 36 months in the first instance.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate is expected to have experience in flow/mass-cytometry and organoid culture will be advantageous. Familiarity with analysing high-dimensional signalling data will also be beneficial. The Research Technician will also support the Cell Communication lab by ordering and general laboratory management.
