Detail information about job Teaching Fellow in Law (Supervising Solicitor). Terms and conditions vacancy

Interview date: 09 October 2017

Portsmouth Law School is an ambitious and fast-growing School. Many members of staff are professionally qualified and the School has strong links with the legal profession and with the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.

Portsmouth Law School is an established provider of undergraduate and postgraduate law degrees including qualifying law degrees. We have a growing reputation for clinical legal education, innovation in learning and teaching and the development of consultancy work (much of which is associated with the School’s full sized courtroom).

The School is seeking to appoint a part-time member of staff as an additional supervising solicitor for a two year fixed term to support our live client clinics and the new Business clinic that is being established by the Faculty.  The successful candidate may also be asked to support our clinical legal education projects and to contribute to a range of law units taught on programmes both within the School of Law and across the Faculty of Business and Law.

Applications are invited from experienced practitioners who are able to maintain their practising certificate in order to undertake a supervisory role in a clinic in accordance with the requirements of the Solicitors Regulation Authority or any other approved regulator. Applications are welcomed from experienced practitioners who do not hold a current practising certificate but who can demonstrate that they are able to renew their practising certificate upon appointment.

The successful applicant will also demonstrate the ability to contribute to the teaching of at least one of the taught law units.

Informal enquiries may be made to Caroline Strevens, Head of Department, 023 9284 4240, email [email protected].
