Detail information about job Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Contemporary Art and Illustration. Terms and conditions vacancy
The University of Huddersfield is looking to appoint a dynamic and experienced Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to our Contemporary Art and Illustration course. With a strong portfolio of practice you will support the delivery of lectures, seminars and workshops in alignment with studio briefs to undergraduate students engaging in a set of expanded practices. Professional practice is also featured as part of this delivery.
You will have knowledge and understanding of the historical and theoretical approaches to art and illustration, but equally embrace new and emerging concepts and ideas to help carry the courses forward in pioneering ways. We are looking for candidates who would be willing to bring fresh practical, critical and contextual content to the curriculum, and to work closely with the course team to generate productive three-way exchanges between context, theory and practice.
Applicants with experience of teaching contemporary art or illustration or critical and contextual Studies to practitioners at HE level will be considered. Evidence of practice, publications/editorial and/or curatorial experience is essential. As a researcher in your field you will have a profile that informs your teaching. You will also have an excellent track record of teaching and supporting students at undergraduate/postgraduate levels.
You will be joining a dedicated, passionate and forward-thinking team.
With a Masters or PhD in an appropriate subject area, you should have an excellent and active portfolio of outputs to be considered for the forthcoming REF. There is a strong research ethos in the Department from a range of histories, theories and practices of art and design, to which you will contribute.
In addition to your application, you will be required to submit a digital portfolio of your work with your application and a teaching plan detailing some of the concepts/contexts/themes you might introduce into the curriculum.
