Detail information about job AS Senior Officer (Student Visa Compliance). Terms and conditions vacancy
Academic Services work cuts across all departments of the university and is the process owner of many of the business processes related to the student lifecycle which are undertaken within academic departments. In this role you will be responsible for assessing eligibility and issuing Confirmation of Acceptance of Study and endorsement letters for student immigration, and monitoring institution-wide corporate compliance responsibilities to the Home Office related to the university’s Tier 4 Sponsor Licence under the points-based immigration system, Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur and short-term study visas.
You will be responsible for responding to Home Office policy change, implementation of related internal policies and overseeing monitoring of student engagement in studies as well as managing a student-centred Student Visa Compliance service. In addition you will manage a small team of officers responsible for service delivery. Applied knowledge of Home Office rules relating to points-based immigration for students is therefore essential, along with knowledge of the student lifecycle and student administration.
You will be required to communicate difficult and often complex information to a range of stakeholders, and exercise initiative and judgement to resolve regulatory, process and data issues, referring to senior colleagues only where there is no clear precedent or in unusual circumstances. You will also be responsible for prioritising and planning work activity for the team for the year ahead, ensuring that service standards are maintained.
