Job PurposeYou will contribute to an EC project Far-infrared Lasers Assembled using Silicon (FLASH) working with Prof Douglas Paul in a consortium which includes ETH Zurich, Politecnico di Milano, University of Rome and IHP. Specifically, the job requires expert knowledge about the fabrication and characterisation of terahertz Ge/SiGe quantum cascade lasers. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications and research proposals as well as help manage and direct this complex and challenging project as opportunities allow.
Standard Terms & ConditionsSalary will be on the University’s Research and Teaching Grade, level 6/7, £28,098 - £31,604 / £34,520 - £38,883 per annum.
This position has funding for up to 3 years in the first instance.
New entrants to the University will be required to serve a probationary period of 6 months.
The successful applicant will be eligible to join the Universities' Superannuation Scheme. Further information regarding the scheme is available from the Superannuation Officer, who is also prepared to advise on questions relating to the transfer of Superannuation benefits.
