We are looking for an experienced baker / pastry chef with at least 3 years’ experience finishing cakes, cupcakes, ganache, cake writing and oven management.

Rocket Foods is an artisan manufacturer of high quality sweet and savoury products, along with a rapidly growing range of cookies. To meet increased demand for our premium high-end foods a new state of the art production facility will be commissioned early next year. Our friendly team have a reputation for high quality products and excellent customer service.  We are looking for an experienced pastry chef with at least 3 years’ experience finishing cakes, cupcakes, ganache, cake writing and oven management.

The opportunity in this role includes:

  • Completion of daily production
    • Cook and produce savoury lines
    • Icing and finishing (includes cakes, cupcakes, petit fours)
    • Ganaching cakes
    • Oven management
    • Follow Rocket Foods fabulous recipes
  • Some bakery packer responsibilities until relocation to the new production facility
  • Adhere to Food Safety practices and good manufacturing practices
  • Maintain cleanliness of the production facility, bakery and equipment
  • Accurate pick and pack of orders
  • Work with Health & Safety policies and procedures

Essential skills / attributes:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ pastry finishing chef experience
  • Ideally enjoy working in a production environment
  • Be available for late shift work Monday to Sunday
  • Have reliable transport to get to work
  • Have excellent English language skills (written & and oral communication)
  • Enjoy working in a team environment and be punctual and reliable
  • Ideally enjoy working in a production environment
  • Have an eye for detail and presentation
  • Be a New Zealand resident
  • Fulltime Position: Be available to work late shifts from 4.00pm to approx. midnight.

The salary for this role is in the $38-$40k range with benefits depending on experience and specialist skill set.
