As a chef de partie you will be required to oversee a section of the kitchen, be it pastry, butchery, fish, sauces, vegetables and so on. You will have assistance from a demi-chef de partie, commis or trainee chef. The meal style is Asian cuisine, to experience working with fresh, clean flavours is a large advantage. On the job training is provided but experience in other kitchens is a must.

You will be assisting the head chef so please be willing to take on extra responsibilities when required and keep your cool in what can be at times a rather stressful environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparing, cooking and presenting dishes within your speciality
  • Managing and training any demi-chef de parties or commis working with you
  • Helping the sous chef and head chef to develop new dishes and menus
  • Ensuring you and your team have high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety
  • Monitoring portion and waste control to maintain profit margins

Main Tasks:

  • Follow recipes and product directions for preparing food.
  • Operate a variety of kitchen equipment.
  • Stock, date, rotate and check temperature of product.
  • Clean and sanitize work stations and equipment.
  • Taste products and keep records in order to accurately plan food production.

What hours will I work?

You'll probably have to work split shifts and around 40 hours a week, depending on the season.
