We are Novotel Auckland Airport, a premium 263-hotel room located on the doorstep of the airport International Terminal. The Square Restaurant is the gateway to New Zealand for exquisite food and beverage service. Our menus have been designed with ingredients sourced from some of New Zealand’s finest regions.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Here is a fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated, innovative and a passionate foodie that strives to be on top of the latest food trends. Bringing your previous cookery experience and array of culinary imagination, you will work closely with our talented Executive Chef, Nancye Pirini and the Senior Sous Chef to continue growing our team and leading The Square dining experience.
This is a role full of variety– including buffet, a la carte, Pastry and Banquets. You will
work in sync with the front of house team
to assist in driving quality and our flexible, innovative service culture.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Share your knowledge and creative flair to train, develop, motivate and inspire a Kitchen brigade of 25 team members.
- Assist in driving service standards to ensure the highest level of service execution is achieved.
- Hands on throughout all periods and areas of the kitchen brigade.
- Follow and ensure efficient preparation, presentation and cooking methods that meet Brand Standards
- Assist the Executive Chef and Senior Sous Chef to ensure all offerings remain innovative and memorable.
- Control costs such as wages, food and wastage.
- Ensure the highest possible standard of hygiene is practiced and maintained
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- Have at least 2 years previous hotel experience in a senior kitchen role
- Well developed team leadership skills – A MUST!
- Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as a high standard of spoken and written English
- Ability to follow department regulations and adhere to current health and hygiene regulations
- Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
- Able to work flexible hours, including nights, mornings, graveyard and weekends
