About us:

This role is working for Capital & Coast District Health Board - working for our Concussion Service within the ORA Wellington Community Team based in Newtown, in beautiful Wellington.   This team works with people aged 16 and above with mild to moderate traumatic brain injury.

Our mission:  together, improve the health and independence of our people.

About the role:

This opportunity is for an Occupational Therapist to join our Concussion Service here at CCDHB in a permanent part time position of 20 hours per week.

The Concussion Service works with clients following a mild to moderate traumatic brain injury under the ACC Concussion Contract.  The majority of your appointments will be in an outpatient setting at the Ewart Building in Newtown, however the occasional home visit may also be required.

This Occupational Therapy role sits within a core Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) consisting of the Concussion Coordinator (OT), Neuropsychology, Physiotherapy and Neurology.  Our service takes a holistic approach to intervention across both mental and health domains to support our patients in their recovery.

You will also be part of the wider ORA Wellington Community Team of allied health, nursing and medical colleagues of which there are 6 FTE/ 7 Occupational Therapists so collegial support is available.

The key responsibilities for this position are outlined in the job description attached and include up-to-date assessment and treatment for people who have sustained a mild to moderate brain injury.

Skills and experience:

This role would suit a clinician with at least 4 years post graduate experience working as an Occupational Therapist in the general health setting.  Experience with working with people with acquired or traumatic brain injury is essential.  Evidence based practice is at the heart of our service, so a commitment to keeping up-to-date on research and an interest in quality improvement activities would be an advantage.

This role would suit a candidate with strong communication and organisational skills as well as an ability to build relationships and work well with clients, their whanau, ACC Case Owners, colleagues in primary care, as well as other service providers.

You will need:

  • to be a New Zealand registered Occupational Therapist with a current practicing certificate
  • a driving license
  • a can-do attitude and a passion for working alongside people

Benefits:

  • A diverse and rewarding caseload.
  • Living in beautiful Wellington
  • Working within a friendly and skillful team
  • The Healthy Savings Programme is an employee benefits programme available to all staff of the CCDHB.
  • Regular clinical supervision and continuing professional development opportunities to aid your ongoing development.
