The Role

As a Medacs Agency Staff member you will accept Surgical Ward & DSU shifts at a variety of clients to cover gaps in the roster, sick leave, annual leave or maternity leave. You will be orientated to the ward/ unit and be an integral team member whilst you are there. You will take your own pre or post-op surgical patient load and deliver nursing care to your assigned patients. As part of the team you will also assist your team members to ensure the ward/ unit functions smoothly, by going above and beyond to support where possible.

Often after working with Medacs, our best nurses are asked back to work other shifts and become a regular agency team members for a particular ward/ unit - could this be you?

  • Surgical Nursing - Orthopedic, General Surgical, Gynae, Neurosurgical, Cardiac & Day Stay Unit (incl. Endoscopy)
  • DHB’s, Private Hospitals & Private Surgical Suites
  • Varied acuity of patients

Skills & Experience

  • At least 12-months NZ Surgical Nursing Experience (or comparative Healthcare Systems) or 6-months NZ experience post CAP course completion
  • Current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) with the NZ Nursing Council
  • Current CPR, Basic Life Support or First Aid Certification
  • Ability to obtain verbal references from two senior referees whom you have worked with in the last 2 years
  • Must be eligible to work in NZ with appropriate immigration visa
