In December 2014 the Public Safety (Public Protection Orders) Act 2014 came into being. PPOs are civil detention orders for individuals who have served a finite prison or community sentence but still pose a very high risk of imminent sexual or violent offending. Residents are managed by way of the Good Lives Model of Offender Rehabilitation.
Our purpose built facility Matawhaiti was commissioned on 20 January 2017. In January this year our permanent staffing structure was approved. The facility is operated on a 24/7 basis with day and night shifts.
Key to the success of this role will be your ability to supervise, motivate and influence those in residence while working as a part of a small team. In addition, your ability to maintain clear and professional boundaries at all times, provide practical solutions to day to day issues, manage risk and effectively communicate with people at all levels is essential to the success of this role.
Reporting directly to the Senior Residence Manager, a typical shift as an Assistant Residence Supervisor will see you:
- Working cooperatively with residents;
- Monitoring residents and supporting the orderly functioning of the facility;
- Responding to emergency or incident situations in the residence under the guidance of the shift Residence Supervisor.
If you pride yourself on your ability to provide a high standard of care, have solid experience managing individuals with challenging and complex needs and wanting to make a difference to community safety in a new way then we want to hear from you.
All applications will be treated in confidence and for successful candidate’s police vetting and drug testing will form part of the process.
Please note, this is a casual position.
Applications close Sunday, 29 July 2018.
