OUR DHB
The Hutt Valley District Health Board (DHB) is one of 20 DHBs in New Zealand responsible for providing or funding the provision of health services in their district. Hutt Valley DHB works to improve, promote and protect the health of the people living in the Hutt Valley and takes the lead in planning, funding and providing public health services for them, regardless of where their services are provided
ABOUT THE ROLE
In June 2018, the Hutt Valley DHB launched both its Strategy (our vision for change) and Wellbeing Plan. Both Plans have a strong focus on the need to better address health inequities across our district, and the need for the DHB to work collaboratively and in partnership with its communities of interest to identify improved solutions to improving Maori health. We have a strong focus on tobacco, housing, families with vulnerabilities, tamariki and whānau with complex social needs, alcohol and other drugs, and healthy eating and healthy families
This is a part-time role to oversee the contracts the DHB holds with our Maori health and Pacific health providers, and to contribute to service developments that will improve Maori and Pacific health gains for our district.
THE SUCCESSFUL PERSON
- You have a passion for improving Maori health.
- You are an experienced manager who is committed to reducing health inequalities and improving outcomes for communities in the Hutt Valley.
- You are familiar with the complexities of collaborative delivery and working in partnership, and you can successfully build collaborative, action orientated relationships with Maori and Pacific communities, key stakeholders and organisations.
- Your abilities in contracting, planning, implementing and evaluating performance and outcomes are evident and, to top it off, you're proactive, organised and self-managing.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
You will require a broad understanding of our Treaty obligations, and hvae the ability to develop strong and sustained relationships with key providers, communities and stakeholders, and have good communication and project management skills to drive the work programme.
