Hapu Wananga Childbirth Educator
Permanent, part-time position (20 hours per week)
This is a new service that provides a coordinated approach for all Lakes DHB maternal and child health services in the Lakes district, in order to reduce inequalities and maximise health outcomes for women, babies and whanau.
The primary purpose of the Hapu Wananga Childbirth Educator position is to help fully establish the hapu wananga programme in the Lakes DHB area. This will include delivering the childbirth education component of the hapu wananga, preparing for, and undertaking all the facilitation activities that are required before, during and after each wananga. The position will also work as part of the Kia Wana Lakes Baby service and assist to deliver outcomes for the programme as a whole.
A range of skills and knowledge are sought for this role (see JD for more detail) including:
• Has completed, or is working towards, a childbirth education qualification (or other relevant health qualification)
• Previous experience delivering pregnancy and parenting education programmes
• Familiarity with the Hapu Wananga pregnancy and parenting education programme
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Ability to plan and achieve outcomes
