We are seeking an Animal Control Officer to join our hardworking customer and regulatory team. You will need to be somebody who enjoys working with animals, are physically fit, has great people skills and enjoys variety and challenge within their job.

As an Animal Control Officer, you will be responsible for administering the Dog Control Act and other bylaws designed to ensure the safety and welfare of animals and people alike in the District. Alongside this the team is proactively educating our communities in how to deal with animals. We are committed to rehoming dogs, finding the right home for the right dog.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Previous experience working in a regulatory environment, particularly in the handling of dogs and other animals
  • Effective communications skills, conflict resolution techniques and time management
  • Attention to detail and a demonstrated track record of being able to follow protocols and procedures
  • A clean full driver licence is essential
  • A firearms licence is preferred
  • A positive 'can do' attitude and a good sense of humour

Applicants will need to undergo the usual pre-employment checks including drug and alcohol screening and criminal history check.
