With over 300 employees and around 6,000 volunteers the Blind Foundation is New Zealand's leading provider of services and support to people who are blind or have low vision. One of New Zealand's most trusted and iconic Not for Profit organisations, we need an Assistant Accountant to join us. You will help the organisation achieve our vision of a "life without limits" for New Zealanders who are blind or who have low vision.

We are seeking an experienced accounting professional to join our team. This role is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week and is based in Parnell, Auckland. You will provide support to the Financial Accountant in the functions of accounts processing, financial accounting and reporting for the Foundation.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • the preparation of financial statements and management accounts for the subsidiary companies, as well as assistance with preparation of the Foundation's financial statements, reconciliation's, GST and FBT returns
  • ensuring all Cash and Bank transactions are handled in an accurate and timely manner
  • ensuring that the Accounts Receivable function runs smoothly and that there are no overdue accounts
  • managing the Fixed Asset Register.

The successful applicant will have:

  • understanding of basic accounting principles
  • attention to detail and accuracy
  • computer literacy with good Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • strong numerical skills and analytical skills
  • ability to prioritise and manage time effectively
  • good accounting experience and a Business degree.
