The Opportunity:

We are looking for an experienced Engineer to join our team based at Redvale Energy Park and Landfill in Dairy Flat.

 

As an experience professional, you will be providing technical and operational direction to the business and responsible for:

  • The regional management of complex projects, assigning work and review of technical accuracy and adequacy whilst maintaining responsibility for planning, directing, co-ordinating and supervising the work of direct reports, resources and external contractors / consultants
  • Management of engineering and environmental aspects of all assigned sites, predominantly landfills and transfer stations
  • Developing and maintaining a measureable competitive edge in respect of its infrastructure, plant and equipment and operational and environmental performance.

 

What you will achieve:

  • Strategic planning, site development and rehabilitation of plant and equipment
  • Whole-of-Life modelling and planning for transfer station, Landfill Energy Park and material recovery facility construction and development
  • Implementing landfill and other capital works developments, undertaken within specific specialist technical areas across NZ (and internationally as appropriate)
  • Managing all communications with Peer Review Panels and Regulators in collaboration with site managers on matters of design and construction approvals, technical aspects of operational performance and ongoing compliance reporting
  • Capital Expenditure Applications and monitoring against approved CAPEX
  • Managing and providing instruction required in the training, mentoring and development of technical staff and provide resources and training for health and safety staff on technical and environmental matters

 

 

What we are looking for in our new team member:

  • Ten years proven engineering experience in the mechanical / electrical / oil & gas engineering industry
  • Five years of relevant engineering experience in the solid waste / material handling industry is preferable
  • Tertiary qualification/s (BE or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Experience in using AutoCAD, and Microsoft suite.
  • Performance driven approach, accountability and commitment to leading projects successfully
  • Ability to work unsupervised and lead a team of Project Engineers and contractors on several multidisciplinary projects
  • Ability to meet deadlines and plan and deliver a range of different activities and be well organised with a strong ability to prioritise
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to adapt this approach for different audiences
