Dairy Goat Co-operative (DGC) is a leading export company situated in Hamilton. This impressive organisation is a globally recognised manufacturer of value-added products from goat milk. Its focus is on the development, production and marketing of premium consumer packaged nutritional powders. The company has invested significantly in modern plant and assets, making this a world class facility, which is run by an energetic and passionate team.

The role:
The Project Engineer plays a key role in optimising and supporting DGC's extensive manufacturing facilities, technology and systems by applying engineering theory and expertise to solve complex technical issues as well as identifying and capitalising on improvement opportunities. The role holder will be required to develop and implement modified systems and methodologies including; evaluating and making recommendations, troubleshooting technical issues and developing SOPs to ensure assets perform as expected, as well as supporting, guiding and directing the activities of other engineering staff, project team members and contractors, as required. The role will manage assigned projects from project definition through to completion, including contributing to engineering design as required, as well as ensuring that projects are executed to the appropriate standards within the allocated budget.

In this role you'll be required to:
  • Manage assigned projects and capital work from defining the project scope through to completion.
  • Prepare and review procurement contracts and manage vendor engagement.
  • Act as technical expert on specified manufacturing equipment and technologies.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical problems.
  • Identify and implement improvement initiatives.

You will need to demonstrate evidence of your:
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to effectively work in and contribute to a team.
  • Background in process engineering - preferably in infant formula or dairy.
  • Excellent project management and planning skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • First-rate problem-solving skills and methodology used. 
  • 5+ years engineering experience
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
