We are looking for an experienced maintenance team leader to join our friendly Hornby based team. As a technical expert, this role is the go-to on site for all things engineering. Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager you will have a wide scope to make a real difference to this locally owned and run company.

The role has responsibility for the ongoing maintenance and improvement of our operational assets. This includes a range of activities including managing preventative maintenance, providing timely response to breakdowns, as well as involvement in equipment and building improvements. Leading from the front, the successful candidate will conduct hands-on maintenance activity as well as provide direction to our small, stable team. 

You will also propose and implement changes to processes and systems that will enhance manufacturing and plant performance. Your focus on improving processes and upscaling machinery to improve efficiency will be critical. Problem solving and out of the box thinking to develop bespoke machinery will also be required.

Due to the nature of your work you will be a natural champion for all environmental, health and safety practices. This may include leading incident response processes, incident investigation and contractor safety. You priority will be ensuring that the maintenance team contributes positively and proactively to the bottom line.

You will need to have:

• Solid experience in FMCG environment
• Be a capable leader of engineering and maintenance staff
• Higher degree qualification in a relevant engineering discipline (mechanical preferred)
• Ability to plan and prioritise work
• Understanding of operational budgets and targets

You will have a practical approach and pride yourself on building strong relationships with a diverse group of people. You will be ready to take the lead with the example you set for your team by being a confident communicator. You will have a desire to manage and mentor your team, bringing their talents together to deliver a quality service to the business.

This is a full time permanent position, Monday-Friday 7.00am to 3:30pm, with a call out rotation for weekends/peak periods.
