Successful commercial contractor seeks to hire a Managing Quantity Surveyor to be based in central Auckland. This role is a mix of Senior QS leadership and Commercial Management.
Our client is well established, has a strong history and reputation and a great management team. They are now capitalising on the growth in Auckland and increasing their commercial capability. This position is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a busy, growing company in a newly created position. The salary will be between $130-150k depending on your experience.
As the Managing QS / Commercial Manager you will be responsible for:
- Managing other QSs and their workload in addition to your own projects
- Run all the commercial and financial aspects of projects
- Prepare requests for subcontractors and subcontractor inductions
- Client contact and cost reporting
- Site visits for pre-programming and during construction
- Managing variations and claims
Skills and experience required:
- 6+ years commercial construction experience, NZ experience a bonus
- Experience in cost planning, bills of quantity preparation, measuring cost plans and contract administration
- Target driven and ability to manage teams under pressure
- Able to confidently navigate your way around sites and provide technical knowledge to the engineering & building teams
- Ability to work across multiple projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A relevant tertiary education qualification
This position would suit someone with 8+ years’ experience on surveying large, challenging jobs.
