Are you passionate about education with a drive to deliver the very best results? This Senior Contracts Advisor role works with a broad variety of both internal and external stakeholders. It manages major contracts, working with nationwide project delivery teams to ensure successful outcomes for New Zealand schools and future generations.
About you:
As Senior Contracts Advisor, you will be responsible for the management of all major project contracts in the National Initiatives Programme. Ideally, you will have a strong track record managing large contracts and procurement combined with a solid understanding of the associated risk and legal implications.
As the main operating point of contact with providers, you will work with delivery teams to deliver on the contracts’ required outcomes, ensuring parties to the contract, Delivery Manager and other internal and external stakeholders are working on time and in budget. Your natural ability to influence and motivate teams at both a programme and project level will see you thrive in this role.
A high level technical understanding of the New Zealand Building Act and Health and Safety in Employment Act will be essential to your success in this role.
Key role responsibilities include:
- Internal and external stakeholder engagement and management, building trust to effectively deliver to the project brief
- Reviewing all project initiation documentation and controlling the flow of project material and contractual information throughout the project lifecycle
- Risk management and best practice implementation
- Ensuring all audit functions (including H&S) are completed and any lessons learnt fed back to the Programme Team
- Ad hoc reporting as required.
A key element to this role is to ensure that contract management is conducted in accordance within Ministry guidelines, while adopting a customer service model of delivery to both schools and internal customers - building a customer service mentality into the fibre of the team.
About the Ministry of Education:
The Ministry of Education manages one of the largest property portfolios in New Zealand, with over 2,100 primary and secondary state schools and over 8,000 hectares of land with a carrying value of $17.2 billion.
This role sits within Education Infrastructure Service (EIS) which undertakes approximately 3,000 projects a year, a combination of Ministry and School led projects costing at least $800m per annum.
Capital Works is a team within the EIS, which has been established to manage rebuilding, remodeling and providing new schools across New Zealand.
