Our mission is to make New Zealand the world's safest country.
Are you bright, enthusiastic and looking to make a real difference?
Do you want the opportunity to shape and develop prevention and enforcement policies and strategies and build your inter-agency policy experience?
Can you use your knowledge of the policy process, evidence and data, program design and relationship management to influence and lead others across Police and our sector partners?
If you are an experienced policy professional and these questions spark your curiosity then we want to hear from you!
The Policing 2021 programme is transforming the business of policing over the next four years and we are committed to investing in our people. With a new structure and leadership, the Policy and Partnerships Group is developing to support transformation across Policing.
The Policy and Partnerships Group works with colleagues right across policing and with our sector partners to deliver public policy change that will take us towards our mission of being the safest country. Our group provides advice on a remarkable range of policy issues, from vulnerable children, youth development and family harm through serious criminal offending and gangs, to drug policy, firearms and other legislation, road and transport safety, national security, emergency management and terrorism.
The diversity of our business makes for a fascinating and challenging range of policy opportunities in the sectors we span - the social, transport, justice, border control and national security sectors. Our work genuinely effects New Zealanders every day.
Our Principal Advisers play a key role in the Group. Embedded in one team, they have a primary focus on that group's work programme. In addition, they provide policy leadership across the group and may be called upon to lead any policy project or inter-agency engagement regardless of functional responsibility. Principal Advisers also provide coaching and mentoring for other staff and may lead internal development projects.
