Support Mercy Hospice Auckland’s Mission of caring for people facing life-limiting illnesses.
This standalone position is an excellent opportunity for a passionate Health and Safety practitioner to utilise their knowledge of the NZ Health and Safety at Work Act in a part time capacity. Responsible for providing Health and Safety advice and support to all Mercy Hospice staff based at the Hospice in Ponsonby and across 9 Retail stores in Auckland you will be a valued member of the HR team, actively encouraging and implementing a strong health and safety culture across Mercy Hospice.

Your key responsibilities:
- Acting as a first point of contact for advising on, and ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety
- Overseeing our active Health and Safety Committee and engaging all staff to implement Health and Safety objectives
- Educating and training staff in managing workplace risks, and how to improve safe working practices. This will include but not limited to Mandatory training days and Induction of new starters
- Advising on, and ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety legislation
We are looking for:
- A keen interest and passion in Health and Safety
- 2+ years experience working in a Health and Safety role beyond that of a H&S Rep
- A formal qualification in Health and Safety or a willingness to study for one
- Excellent Communication skills
- Confidence and taking responsibility /ownership of projects will be essential in this role
- Having values that match Mercy Hospice – Respect, Dignity, Compassion, Stewardship, Quality and Advocacy
The hours of work are 0.8FTE. Days and hours of work are flexible for the right applicant.
