  • NZSTA provides national support to assist communities in the provision of outstanding governance for schools, through effective employment advice, HR and organisational development practices as well as a variety of professional development opportunities for boards of trustees.
  • We work closely with government stakeholders, educationalists and sector representatives to ensure that all children are supported to attain their highest educational achievement.

A typical day for our Employment Advisers includes:

·       Working with Principals, boards and statutory managers in Auckland (and sometimes beyond) using your generalist HR knowledge to resolve complex employment matters, ranging from performance management, leadership coaching and recruitment to organisational development initiatives and specific employment relations resolutions. 

·       Where required advising and supporting boards and principals through an employment mediation process including the finalisation of settlements.

·       Coaching, mentoring and influencing trustees, to support in the development of effective organisational design.

·       Identifying opportunities to develop school leadership and work in partnership with Principals and their teams.

·       Travelling the region, meeting educational leaders and their teams to deliver and facilitate professional development in order to meet their development needs.

·       Bouncing ideas off your fellow advisers (locally and nationally) to ensure the tricky cases are handled effectively and consistently. This role is an excellent opportunity to bring your employment relations skills and knowledge to another level.

 

Does this sound like you…?

·       You have two to three years minimum experience working with employee relations and employment law, HR practice and organisational development.  You must have experience with managing employment issues at mediation.

·       You get a kick out of seeing the results from your coaching and mentoring of managers

·       You’re a confident facilitator who can assess professional development needs and adapt training to clients who come from a range of capabilities.

·       Your strengths include working collegially and collaboratively with your team work, as well as with stakeholders and clients.

·       You love meeting people from all walks of life, building relationships and exceeding expectations.

·       You are resilient, love a bit of travel, working flexibly and you enjoy working in a fast paced, autonomous environment.
