OUR ROLE AND YOU
Our role has the traditional mix of operational day to day ER/IR, but it also has a really nice amount of strategic challenge and some generalist HR work as well. It’s a given that the successful person will be someone who can turn their hand to anything ER related, straightforward or complex. However our role will also suit those who thrive on strategic IR work and negotiation, allowing them to draw from their comprehensive industrial relations background and deep industry knowledge. You will relish the challenge of finding win-win solutions for key stakeholders across the ANZ business, developing trust as you go. It goes without saying that you will be someone who can work autonomously, but also work collaboratively with others, effortlessly building relationships across a salaried and waged workforce. Our business moves quickly and is fluid operationally, therefore your ability to remain flexible and uncomplicated, turning your hand to whatever is required, will assist you to succeed. Your expert knowledge of relevant legislative frameworks and multiple personal and professional experiences, will enable you to quickly find credibility as the subject matter expert. In conjunction with senior HR generalists, you will direct your stakeholders through all levels of complexity in disciplinary processes, disputes, consultations, restructures and IR strategy and negotiations. You will also contribute your expertise to take ownership over specific strategic generalist HR work, bids & tenders and a variety of other projects and activities that can eventuate in our ever evolving organisation.
QUALIFICATIONS AND ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
• Senior level ER/IR specialist 5+ yrs
• HR generalist experience
• Travel across NZ as required
• Previous experience in a similar role in a unionised workforce environment
• Previous experience in a large organisation
• A law degree (preferred but not essential)
• Solid strategic IR experience
• Strong understanding of NZ employment law and relevant legislation
• A courageous but easy going personality
• Excellent relationship building and stakeholder management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A track record in influencing senior level stakeholders
