Detail information about job Quality Assurance Engineer - Product. Terms and conditions vacancy

  • Bring a strong focus on quality and automation testing to Xero
  • Work closely with our Developers and Product Owners to deliver the best products
  • Bring an understanding of automation testing frameworks, such as selenium

At Xero we are rewiring the small business economy and want millions of small businesses to thrive through beautiful software, advice and connections. We aim to make being a small business more efficient and profitable for small business owners, and more enjoyable too.

Right now we are looking for a talented Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team!

As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you'll be working within our Compliance Product team whose focus is to enable our customers to remain compliant with government tax regulations at all times. You’ll bring a focus on quality and automation testing to the team, and work with them to help deliver our world-class software!

Our Quality Assurance Engineers work closely with our Developers and Product Owners to deliver the best products we can. Typically we use Quality Assurance tools such as Selenium and Nightwatch.js in conjunction with a large in-house testing framework and test suite. We run systems on Windows and Linux and use C# on .Net for the majority of the product, but also many other frameworks and languages.

What you’ll do:

  • Be a voice for quality, helping Product Owners and Developers deliver tested and reliable software
  • Write automation tests within automation testing frameworks such as Selenium, Nightwatch.js and StoryTeller
  • Build robust automation test suites for complex web solutions, applying appropriate automation design patterns
  • Implement automation tests over multiple layers of a system
  • Support our in-house C# testing framework
  • Provide functional manual testing when required and come up with relevant test plans or documentation
  • Share your tools and knowledge, training and upskilling other staff in Quality Assurance

What you’ll bring:

  • An understanding of cloud-based software and web services
  • An interest and an ability to write automation tests at multiple levels, including UI, integration and maybe even unit tests
  • An in-depth understanding of a specific automation testing framework, such as Selenium or Nightwatch.js
  • Coding ability in a common web development language, such as C#, Java, or Javascript
  • An open and flexible attitude that allows you to suggest the level of test automation appropriate to the requirements, following the testing pyramid. Prototypes don't need a huge test suite, but mission-critical systems require rigid and reliable tests.
  • A willingness to be an active and positive member of a highly collaborative and cross-functional agile team

You don’t need to be an expert automation quality assurance engineer to apply - we firmly believe we can teach you anything you don’t know!

If you have good experience working in an agile development team, have experience with testing web services or web applications and Automation testing is your ultimate goal, we would love to hear from you.

We are more interested in how your experience and passion apply to the attributes listed above, so be sure to apply with your CV and a cover letter explaining why you’re a great fit!
