AgResearch is a Crown Research Institute tasked with delivering cutting-edge agricultural science and innovation to benefit the wider New Zealand economy. To ensure that AgResearch reaches its strategic and commercial goals, the role of Director of Technology & Digital Services has been created to join the Executive Team.
Based in Lincoln, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and leading a team of technology and digital specialists, the broad accountabilities of the Director of Technology & Digital Services include:
- Developing and executing a comprehensive information systems and technology strategy and roadmap;
- Contributing as a leader to the Digital Agriculture strategy for Science and working to support, enable and achieve the outcomes expected by this strategy;
- Leading the technology aspect of the AgResearch transformational change agenda;
- Working across the organisation to support the thinking and execution of the commercialisation of science, technology and innovation developed within AgResearch;
- Ensuring all technology and systems support the operational requirements of the organisation;
- Identifying and assessing the potential impact of existing and emerging disruptive technologies on strategy, policy and the services provided by Ag Research.

To be successful in this role, you will be a highly-skilled Executive and experienced people leader who can deliver a culture of engagement, values and accountability. Holding a tertiary qualification in business or technology, you ideally would have developed your career cross-functionally and will be able to demonstrate your commercial thinking alongside your understanding of technology at an operational and strategic level. A well-read and innovative, future-facing thinker, you will enjoy challenging your own ideas and be able to challenge those of your colleagues in a way that brings people with you. Technically, you will have a strong understanding of project management disciplines and have led teams focused on the delivery and management of ERP and other operating systems together with e-commerce platforms and mobile solutions.
