Senior Oracle Database Administrator

Location: Auckland

The Role

The Senior Oracle Database Administrator is responsible for the continual delivery of Oracle Database Management Services (DBMS). You will provide high quality services to our customers by assisting with development, maintenance, support and upgrade of Oracle DBMS.

In this role your key responsibilities include:

Monitoring, managing and maintaining databases, servers and appliances, across multiple Oracle DBMS.
Overseeing backup, recovery, clustering, mirroring, replication, failover and Disaster Recovery strategies, and building remedy action plans
Analysing, sustaining and reporting on database capacity and performance, and assisting in developing and driving initiatives to improve systems and infrastructure.
Meeting client SLAs for system availability, uptime and reliability, and ensuring documentation is best practice.
Performing on-call duties as required.

The Person

This role will suit someone with a sense of independence, strong technical knowledge and good time management skills. You will be have excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to communicate technical information to a diverse range of audiences.

We are looking for someone forward thinking who is able to clearly communicate what their plans are for the next 6 months for the team. You are able to demonstrate big picture thinking and you have the ability to translate business requirements into a solution design (Statement of Work, etc).

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

3 years minimum previous Technical Lead experience and 10 years Oracle experience
Very strong performance tuning skills backed up by real world examples
Strong knowledge of VLDB’s and how to manage data and performance (purging, archiving, partitioning)
Good RMA experience with an ability to discuss cloning, and B&R
Good PL/SQL understanding with the ability to enhance a codeset
Unix Administration and shell scripting skills
Good understanding of Oracle Cloud Control with experience in upgrade/patching
Exposure to multiple Cloud environments i.e. AWS, Azure, Google, Oracle
