What you'll do:

We’re well underway with a project to revolutionise web-based HR / Payroll software. We need another developer with the right skills and personality to fit in with our team. 

You’ll work closely with our Business Analysts, Designers, Managers, Front End Engineers and other Java Developers.  Our agile development environment is implementing a versatile solution to some tricky web development problems.

Based in our Christchurch office, you will join our Development Team, while also working closely alongside our Australian team. As a member of the team, you will be involved in developing, testing, launching and iterating our new HR / Payroll product. As we work in an agile environment, you’ll need to manage your own time, and work well both independently and as part of the team.

You will need to be technical at heart, comfortable with the idea of extending systems by writing code, rather than just relying on in-built functionality.

Who we’re looking for:

Key skills:

• At least three years’ postgraduate experience developing Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) applications.
• Experience maintaining development and deployment environments at both the client and server level.
• Solid HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript (using jQuery or similar frameworks) skills.
• The type of person that publishes good documentation to help people use the information and features you build.
• Excellent communication skills are really important when working across remote teams.
• Comfortable explaining the code you build to your fellow team mates whether they be developers, designers or analysts.
• Comfortable working within an agile development methodology and have experience working to agile delivery timeframes.

Desirable skills:

• Experience using Atlassian’s Jira and Confluence.
• Experience using version control systems like Git and Subversion.
• You have experience in database design and administration (MS SQL Server DBA).
• Experience with mobile development, including adaptive and responsive techniques
• Experience with a CSS pre-processor (LESS or SASS).
• Experience building new products.
