You will work closely with the Head of Security Engineering & Architecture to build, manage and monitor technical security platforms within the Xero environment.

This is a unique opportunity to manage and develop a high performing team through mentoring and supporting Security Engineers to ensure they are knowledgeable and adhering to Xero security guidelines. You will also be a senior technical engineering resource within the team.

Some of what you will do:

• Coach and mentor each of your direct reports to help them become the best versions of themselves they can be, using a variety of techniques which may include performance feedback and career development
• Spend a proportion of your time on people-focused tasks including recruitment, leave management, performance reviews, training, and development
• Build, manage and monitor technical security platforms within the Xero environment
• Have a clear understanding of the milestones on the team’s roadmap, and lead the team during the course of operational delivery
• Ensure that your team is operating effectively, meeting all agreed security team objectives
• Define quality standards for security products & services; ensure adherence, and promote continuous improvement via increased automation
• Work alongside the Head of Security Engineering & Architecture to ensure security systems are deployed in a secure, best practice and well-documented manner

What you will need:

• Proven experience in developing and maintaining a highly motivated team of individuals.
• Been recognized as a technical lead or the senior contributor in your team
• Strong technical experience with:
• Cloud Technologies, either AWS, Google Cloud or Azure
• Operational IT security platform administration (Firewall, IPS/IDS, Configuration Management, Vulnerability Assessment, SIEM etc)
• IT security (threat modeling, penetration testing, incident response, network security, physical security, etc.)
• DevOps Principles and Practices (automated provisioning, continuous build, continuous integration, programming)
