About the Organisation
The organisation has around 1,000 employees. A private sector organisation, their Head Office is based here in Wellington. They have a total of 50 people based in Head Office, and an IT team of 8 people, within which you would be based.
The working environment is very similar to that of a start-up in terms of the innovation, variety, flexibility and speed at which they work. That said, they have NONE of the disadvantages of a start up. This is a long-established and highly successful organisation that is a household name around New Zealand. They offer a great work environment and knowledge and career development opportunities second to none.
They are also amongst the nicest - and smartest - group of people you could ever hope to work with.
About the role
The position is focused on providing applications support for their business intelligence and software systems. NOTE: there is no infrastructure applications support involved - it all relates to business intelligence and software systems support.
As the team is small, you will be involved in a wide variety of systems support, so you do need to be someone who, if they come across something they aren't familiar with, is able to go away and research the problem and solve it - a 'can do, will do' approach, in other words.
Their technical environment is evolving quickly and is technically interesting and varied and offers loads of chances to become familiar with new technology. If you like a 'start up', high energy type of workplace, then this is for you. It is also a fairly unstructured so you need to be comfortable working in a situation that is not highly systematised, and where you need to work things out for yourself.
What they are looking for in your CV:
- Experience in carrying out applications support for business intelligence and software systems
- A good knack for working with large volumes of data, and an understanding of database systems
- Experience in problem solving and researching technical issues to a successful solution.
