Since 1925 Cholmondeley Children’s Centre, situated in beautiful Governors Bay has operated as a charitable organisation offering urgent and planned respite care and education for children between the ages of 3 and 12, and support for their families/whānau during times when their own resources and support networks are not enough. 

The mix of practice development, training, leadership and work with children and families in our 24/7 centre make this a unique social work opportunity.  The successful candidate will get to inspire, train, support a team of passionate staff and be involved in making a difference for children.  If you are an experienced social worker with a passion for education, health, and care then this team leader role will be an exciting opportunity for you. Registration with SWRB is necessary for this role.

  • As a member of the Practice Team, the Lead Practitioner will lead a team of child and youth care workers and support social pedagogical practice for the organisation.
  • The lead practitioner will serve children and their families as well as a diverse and energetic staff team all with the shared purpose of providing the highest outcomes for children and their families.
  • The Lead Practitioner will contribute to the development of a best practice model of psycho/social and education services and programmes. This will include measurable interventions that achieve positive outcomes for children and their families, practice staff and Cholmondeley and are aligned with the strategic objectives of the organisation.
  • The Lead Practitioner will also ensure follow up and connection for our children and families in times of need.
