Stewart Island Experience showcases some of the best of untouched New Zealand. Operating the ferry from Bluff it's only an hour until you're amongst a network of stunning bays, inlets, golden sand beaches and densely forested hills.
We are a company committed to our customers, our staff, our environment and have a lot of stories to tell. As tourist numbers grow so does our business and as a result we are looking to bring an Operations Manager on board to manage the day to day scheduling and deployment of staff and vessels.
Logistics experience is preferred but to succeed in this role we are looking for:
- At least 5 years proven experience in a similar role with people leadership;
- Ability to recruit and train new staff;
- Ability to work in a fast paced, high pressure environment;
- Preferably a Maritime background with a thorough understanding of all legislation concerning Health & Safety, Maritime regulations and the operation of vessels;
- Implementation and maintenance of office systems and procedures that provide for the efficient running and security of the wharf operation;
- Ability to create rapport with people from all walks of life;
- Someone who is community focussed.
As Operations Manager, you will be someone who can come in and enhance the maritime safety culture through empowering our crew to ensure performance excellence, legal compliance and the highest standards of communication and cooperation are achieved across the business. This includes ensuring the effective operation of Rakiura Shipping; co-ordinating the wharf team for efficient delivery of operation.
