The role you’ll play

To deliver HNZ’s forward programmes of work, HNZ’s procurement processes, policy, framework, skills and tools are being invested in to ensure that HNZ is well placed to deliver the future. 

 

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Director-Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Management, the Procurement Excellence Manager position is a senior role in the Procurement function and the Finance & Performance Team. The primary purpose of this role is to develop and own the capability frameworks across Policy, People, Process, Platforms and Probity, driving best practice and standards to optimise the performance of HNZ across the procurement lifecycle and build commercial excellence at HNZ.


Your responsibilities

  • Provide robust, effective commercial leadership and direction
  • Accountable for policy development, internal procurement training, analysis, internal and external reporting, and HNZ Procurement’s web presence (internet and internet).
  • Develop, agree and drive implementation of appropriate procurement methodologies, innovations and platforms that will uplift customer experience and enable delivery with agility, transparency and commerciality
  • Actively influence day to day decisions, shaping strategy and the direction of the function and business group
  • Provide advice and constructive challenge to business groups regarding strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management
  • Leverage relationships with internal and external peers to create a collaborative approach in identifying opportunities and solving business challenges

 

About you & what’s in it for you

With your senior procurement background being supplemented by strong commercial expertise you’ll have experience in leading multiple high risk/high value projects of a complex nature concurrently.  As you will be leading a team of 4, you will also have experience in leading high performing teams, including demonstrated ability to motivate and coach staff.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to foster good stakeholder relationships through consultation and partnership and be able to work at all levels within the business and externally. You’ll also probably have MCIPS or equivalent experience and an extensive knowledge of procurement concepts, methodologies and practices.  

Government procurement experience at a senior level will be advantageous.
