ABB Power Generation & Grid Integration business unit has an exciting opportunity for a Site Supervisor to join our team in Christchurch. You are a person who thrives off a challenge and a natural people person in all aspects of communication. You take ownership in your area of expertise and lead by example to achieve success. By creating followership, you will lead all on-site activities for/with Service Technician’s and sub-contractors to ensure project deliverables are met according to contract specifications, quality and safety standards within a timely manner during; the start-up, construction, maintenance and commissioning phase of project work.
Reporting to the Project Manager key areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
Site Planning:
• Plan project “on-site activities” with Project Manager including necessary resources, equipment and project challenges.
• Coordinate agreement between customer’s and external resources make recommendations for construction targets, work plan and site organization.
Material Handling:
• Ensure correct handling, storage and installation of ABB-delivered equipment, coordinating on-site storage as well as shipment logistics to secure timely site delivery of equipment and material.
Leadership:
• Manage sub-contractors and internal ABB Service Technicians to ensure accurate completion, quality work, progression and timely completion of work as agreed with ABB customers.
Site Cost Management:
• Manage controlled project cost for site work, by way of monitoring actual spend against forecasts and final cost estimates.
Requirements:
Our ideal candidate will come from a Field Service Engineering/Technician role with some site supervisor experience within the same or similar industry, power grid-grid integration.
• Frequent travel all over the South Island - An understanding of the geography of the South Island, NZ is essential.
• NZ Electrical License or similar industry standard is essential.
• A minimum standard of on-site project work including MV-HV switchgear, circuit breaker refurbishment, transformers, installations and upgrades.
• Demonstrated leadership capability is essential.
