Your role
The Technical Officer is responsible for testing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading a wide range of electronic, electrical and electro-mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Participating in the ongoing support, repairs, maintenance and upgrade of ANZAC and LHD Command and Control, Fire Control System and Primary Search Radar equipment and component parts for surface, subsurface naval vessels and shore installations
  • Assuming the lead role in offsite activities which may include managing Saab technicians and sub-contractors
  • Leading or assisting in test, acceptance and set to work of hardware in-house and ship/shore installations
  • Taking an active role in the hardware manufacture, maintenance and support work carried out in the Saab Workshop and test sites

Your skills and experience
You will need to have:

  • Certificate IV in Electronics and Communications (or similar); and/or relevant experience in the following areas:
    • Circuit and wiring fault finding in PC and industrial computing bus systems (cPCI, VME)
    • Diagnosis and repair of circuit card assemblies to component level
    • Repair and maintenance of radar equipment

  • Previous experience in a systems and electronics orientated environment
  • Previous experience in field fault diagnosis and repair of electronic and electrical equipment
