Role
Cardno has an opportunity for a skilled Ecologist in our Water and Environment business unit to undertake ecological assessments and provide advice to our range of clients. Our existing team includes highly regarded experts in biodiversity offsetting and management, aquatic, coastal, marine and terrestrial ecology. We are looking to expand our capacity in botany, plant and ecological community identification. For this reason we are looking for a professional with knowledge and experience of undertaking ecological assessments, particularly in NSW, and who are certified or have the capacity to be certified under the relevant legislation. Experience in biodiversity offsetting and preparation of flora and fauna management plans would also be considered valuable.
  
The Opportunity

• Undertake ecological assessments and prepare assessment and offsetting reports and management plans
• Provide ecological advice focussing on botany, ecological community and flora identification, assessment and management
• Collect, compile and interpret field and laboratory data
• Work as part of a broader ecological and environmental services team to provided integrated environmental advice to clients and government
• Prepare proposals, reports and management plans within given timeframes

  
This role is based in our St Leonards (Sydney) office, however we are happy to consider other location options for the right person. You will report to the Ecological Service Lead, and work closely with the broader environment services, transport and urban infrastructure teams. To be Successful

• Tertiary qualifications in Botany, Ecology, Geography or Environmental Science/Engineering, or related field
• Demonstrated 3-10 years of related experience
• Good analytical, research, reporting and effective communication skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment, ensuring safety is at the forefront of all operations
• Skills to manage multiple projects and priorities
• A positive and pro-active attitude
• Valid/current driver’s licence
