About your team:

CBA GA&A’s Assurance Analytics team, based in Sydney, comprises of professionals with financial services backgrounds in the areas of analytics, IT and audit. 

The Assurance Analytics team is of strategic importance to GA&A, being responsible for performing advanced analytics to achieve powerful audit insights and support effective and efficient audit processes.  We use SAS, Teradata, R, Python and other specialised software to carry out our work.

The team works closely with both auditors and special project teams, to provide deep insight into business risks and develop leading edge practices and tools in line with GA&A’s requirements.  This involves the application of analytics on audits and advanced analytics capability development (continuous monitoring, predictive modelling), and BI development. The Analytics team is a high-performance team, take an innovative approach with analytics and its application within Group Audit.

What does success look like:

Reporting to the Senior Manager Assurance Analytics, your role will be to: Perform high quality, risk-focused assurance analytics work which provides management with powerful insights and recommendations for improving the control environment in line with Group strategic objectives, continuously seek ways to reduce costs by automating or executing analytics work efficiently, without negatively impacting audit/project coverage or quality, assist auditors and reviewers in becoming more efficient and effective, in both executing audits, and planning audit coverage, through the use of automation, analytics, continuous monitoring and dynamic emerging risk assessment and identify control weaknesses in systems and business processes and assist with quantification of risk and root cause analysis where appropriate.

Key responsibilities will include:

• High quality and timely delivery of a number of Analytics assignments across your given portfolio
• Consistently deliver accurate and effective data analytics in line with the CBA Internal Audit Methodology and quality standards
• Profile, test and understand data extracted from core business systems to identify data trends, outliers and relevant information.
• Provide timely risk analysis leveraging internal and external data sources
• Document test plans, results and conclusions clearly and concisely.

What will help you succeed:

• Tertiary qualification in a Data Analytics or Statistical field - minimum 2 years’ experience working in an Analytics role
• Experience in a data science related field preferable
• Demonstrated knowledge of Operational Risk and Internal Audit
• Demonstrated ability to build strong customer relationships
• Proficient in writing SQL code and Tableau or other visualization tools
• Proficient in use of SAS, R or Python
