As a result of continued growth we have an exciting opportunity for an NPD Technologist to join our friendly team.

The Department: The NPD department leads the development and successful implementation of innovative, new and optimised products that will not only secure the business's current market position but also extend and/or reinvent the business in the market place. 

The Role:  The primary responsibility of the NPD Technologist is the development and successful implementation of new and optimised products, processes and packaging. This includes the management and control of administrative and procedural activities for processes relating to the new or optimised products from concept through to launch.

The successful candidate will have completed tertiary studies within HACCP or a Food Science / hygiene / quality assurance discipline and understanding of all legislative requirements for labeling and products.  Additionally, the successful candidate will have proven experience in: 

• Project management
• Factory processing requirements and ability to understand capabilities
• Working within a team and independently
• Following up issues and managing from concept through to completion and launch
• Developing strong relationships and working within cross functional departments
• Demonstrating a high level of attention to detail

  Summary of Key Deliverables:

• Manage critical paths for product launches and Value Optimisation projects
• NPD lead on allocated NPD and cost saving projects
• Work with each key stakeholder department to identify, produce and trial processes for new and improvement projects, including product and process optimisation
• Determine and document relevant processes to drive repeatability and consistency of recipes and manufacturing processes
• Conduct internal product sensory panels to evaluate new, reformulated and /or existing products over shelf life to propose relevant life for products
• Ensure that correct microbiological and chemical testing is carried out to ensure Food Safety parameters are met for length of the products shelf life
• Liaise with production, planning and others as required to arrange and conduct factory trials and own documentation of these trials
• Ensure Business Operating system codes are set up and operational for launch (M#,MES) in line with project Gantt charts
• Collaborate with technical team to ensure Raw Material and Products are in line with Customer brand guidelines
• Reheat / cooking guidelines clarification / verification
• Conduct post launch product review and implement relevant actions
