THE ROLE

We are currently searching for a Senior Property Officer to join our Property team based in Warabrook, NSW. The primary responsibility of this role is to partner with our leaders and manage a portfolio of leasehold and freehold properties on behalf of the Samaritans. You will focus heavily on:

  • Management of landlord responsibilities for freehold properties, including organisation of a variety of maintenance activities and implementation of services
  • Financial activities including managing income and expenditure for properties in your portfolio, and assisting finance in the preparation of budgets
  • Management of lease and accommodation agreements in accordance with the Residential Tenancies Act
  • Regular site inspections within the portfolio
  • Monthly reporting
  • Assist in negotiations, identification, costing and implementation of fitout requirements for potential sites.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

Our ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about providing excellent service to internal and external customers. You’ll be proactive and communicative, with a focus on finding solutions rather than focussing on problems. You’ll have previous experience in negotiations, the ability to take on responsibility for a portfolio of properties and be able to make decisions.

You will comfortably assist in seeking feedback from appropriate sources on the performance of the Property team, and actively contribute to the ongoing success and positive culture of the department.

Your ability to build and maintain strong relationships with Finance personnel, contractors, suppliers, property professionals and internal stakeholders will enable you to have a network that will support you when required, and allow you to stay focused when face with any challenging situations.

THE ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience in property management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to travel when required- please note that regular travel in the local and wider NSW regional areas are a requirement of this role
  • Financial acumen- you will have previous experience with budgets and other financial management
  • Creativity and solutions focussed- you’ll be able to think outside the box and be creative in your approach to problem solving
  • The ability to quickly build strong, professional relationships with stakeholders is essential to this role
  • Completion of a pre-employment medical, National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, and hold a valid NSW drivers licence.
