About the role:
The Corporate Counsel role is responsible for providing quality and timely legal service and advice to the Group, with a focus on the continual improvement of G8’s legal capability and service. This role will manage the Group’s property and lease portfolio, supporting the Property team with transactions across the business including acquisitions, property lease negotiations, and general commercial and corporate matters.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing all legal aspects of the property and lease portfolio, including drafting and negotiation Leases, Agreements for Lease, renewals, assignments, rights of entry and consents
- Drafting and negotiating a range of commercial contracts and agreements
- Assisting the General Counsel with various mergers and acquisition transactions
- Providing general corporate commercial advice to the Group
- Providing legal advice and guidance in respect of grievances, complaints and disputes
- Reviewing Company policies and corporate governance documentation
- Implementing processes and procedures across business units and national portfolio
You must have:
- Undergraduate qualifications in Law (Bachelor of Law)
- Current Practising Certificate
- Proven experience (at least 5 years) in commercial and property matters within a leading mid/top tier firm or within an in-house role
- Ability to prioritise and complete multiple projects at the same time
- Ability to work independently, excellent work ethic and time management skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of the business
- Well-developed experience in partnering with stakeholders to support wider business strategies and ensuring that staff and suppliers are aware of, and comply with, their obligations
- Demonstrated professionalism and the ability to maintain confidentiality
- Exceptional written and oral skills
