Model Developer Actuarial Process Improvements – 5 Months Fixed Term Contract

About the role
The key purpose of this role is to utilise understanding and experience of financial modelling to rebuild and redesign critical actuarial spreadsheets used within Group Valuation, Retail Valuation and Capital Management team to reduce operational risk and uplift productivity.
In the role you will also perform testing, validation and UAT activities for process improvement initiatives and ensure that AMP’s model risk management requirements are met for the development, testing and documentation.
More specifically your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:
- Review and improve identified critical actuarial models used in Group Actuarial
- Develop models to reduce operational risk and improve productivity of critical actuarial processes
- Ensure version control, testing and deployment of models occurs in a robust way
- Collaborate with users and process owners to determine actions to resolve issues and risks and support the implementation of those actions
- Build solid understanding and advice on business requirements for the delivery of actuarial reporting
- Provide pro-active analysis, insights and recommendations supporting development of changes to deliver better business outcomes
With your tertiary qualification in a quantitative discipline: i.e., engineering, mathematics, statistics, physics, actuarial studies, finance what we would also look for in you is:
- Ideally at least 5 years post qualification experience
- Experience in Excel/VBA and SQL
- Experience with Finance and Actuarial models
- Knowledge and experience of Australian insurance and financial services market, including market structure, product, distribution, regulation, and governance processes
- Solid understanding of Actuarial Valuation process needs and overall actuarial valuation system.
- Advanced Microsoft skills (particularly Excel), including VBA use of macros
- Lateral thinker with excellent analytical and numerical ability
- Ability to manage a change process
- Collaborative engagement and communication style
