At The Maid Hotel we pride ourselves on providing honest high quality pub food sourced from local ingredients.
We are looking for a dedicated and passionate sous chef/junior sous chef with a creative flair and a solid track record in delivering high quality cuisine.
You will be hands on in your approach and thrive on achieving outstanding results while motivating and inspiring a small team.
You may be an experienced chef who is ready for the next step, or be currently working as a sous chef/junior sous chef and hungry for a new challenge.
Responsibilities will include:
- Delivering consistent, high quality food while maintaining set food cost
- Supervision of a small team
- Supporting the Head Chef in delivering memorable dishes with a strong emphasis on quality and presentation
- Support the training and development of the overall team
The successful candidate will have:
- A clear passion for the food industry
- The ability to assume responsibility for the smooth running of the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef
- Great communication skills and ability to develop a motivated cohesive brigade
- A calm approach to FOH staff and ability to work well under pressure
- The ability to work well in a team
- A flexible approach in adapting to guest requests
- A minimum of 5 years commercial cooking experience
- Previous experience in a fast paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and organise work load
- Confidence in cooking abilities and have high presentation standards
- Be aware of OHS legislation and practices
- A keen eye for detail
- Ambition to succeed in the kitchen
- A strong understanding of food cost and control
- Previous experience as a sous chef, junior sous chef or Chef de Partie is preferred but not essential
