At The Maid Hotel we pride ourselves on providing honest high quality pub food sourced from local ingredients.

We are looking for a dedicated and passionate sous chef/junior sous chef with a creative flair and a solid track record in delivering high quality cuisine.

You will be hands on in your approach and thrive on achieving outstanding results while motivating and inspiring a small team.

You may be an experienced chef who is ready for the next step, or be currently working as a sous chef/junior sous chef and hungry for a new challenge.

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering consistent, high quality food while maintaining set food cost
  • Supervision of a small team
  • Supporting the Head Chef in delivering memorable dishes with a strong emphasis on quality and presentation
  • Support the training and development of the overall team

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • A clear passion for the food industry
  • The ability to assume responsibility for the smooth running of the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef
  • Great communication skills and ability to develop a motivated cohesive brigade
  • A calm approach to FOH staff and ability to work well under pressure
  • The ability to work well in a team
  • A flexible approach in adapting to guest requests
  • A minimum of 5 years commercial cooking experience
  • Previous experience in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and organise work load
  • Confidence in cooking abilities and have high presentation standards
  • Be aware of OHS legislation and practices
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Ambition to succeed in the kitchen
  • A strong understanding of food cost and control
  • Previous experience as a sous chef, junior sous chef or Chef de Partie is preferred but not essential
