Currently looking for a passionate Sous Chef to join our F&B team at our award winning venue, Sydney Showground.

About the Role…

We have an amazing opportunity for a Sous Chef to join our Food & Beverage team at Sydney Showground. Our team is committed to delivering superior levels of guest service and exceptional culinary experiences for our guests on every event hosted.

This role will be responsible for ensuring all events are appropriately resourced, managing back of house staff on event days and live our Sydney Showground standards. As part of this role you will also play an important role in the event day operations, cooking on a day to day basis while continually developing and improving menus, food standards and products.

Your ability to work in a fast-paced environment coupled with good organisational skills will make you an ideal candidate for this role

About you…

To be successful in this role you would need to possess the following:

• Commercial cookery qualification
• 3 years’ event experience in catering management
• 3 years’ experience managing large teams (including casual and seasonal staff)
• An excellent understanding of all Food Safety Principles, WH&S policies and HACCP principles
• Proven experience in supervisory role or in a similar role in a large-scale venue
• Availability and flexibility to work across all event day operations (including weekends)
• Exposure with Microsoft Office Suite and Ungerboeck Software preferred
• Ability to implement change and have a ‘can do’ positive approach
• The ability to remain calm under pressure working to tight deadlines
• Experience working in all sections of a fast paced kitchen
• Previous experience with conducting stocktake
• Proven history of being punctual & reliable
• Have excellent communication & interpersonal skills,
• Have an outstanding work ethic and impeccable grooming
• Be legally entitled to live & work in Australia.
• Be willing to undertake a police clearance check if required

Sydney Showground is the venue and event management business of the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS), a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to promoting excellence in agriculture.

Sydney Showground was established in 1998 as a purpose-built home for major events as part of the NSW Government's multi-million dollar development for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

Today it is a world-class venue, delivering close to 150 national and international events each year, including music festivals, sporting events, exhibitions, trade shows and the Sydney Royal Easter Show, the flagship event of the RAS and the nation's largest annual ticketed event.

All profits from events held on the site are invested back into supporting Australian agriculture and rural communities.

The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) manages the Sydney Royal Easter Show, Sydney Royal competitions, the RAS Foundation, Australasian Animal Registry and the Sydney Showground. The RAS has a team of over 130 full-time staff – and an indispensable pool of casual staff - who work on the Easter Show, events at the Sydney Showground and other activities and events.
