We currently require a Front of House professional with current industry experience and knowledge in the area of Hospitality to join our team.


The role of the TAFE Teacher as a professional educator is to help, construct, guide and enhance the educative process. A TAFE Teacher prepares, delivers and assesses educational programs and facilitates learning, enabling students to achieve their desired outcomes.

Salary:  $35,065 - $45,050 (pro-rata per annum).

Employment Status:  Temporary, Part Time (0.5) to June 2019 unless otherwise determined.

Location: Roma ** Travel may be required across the TAFE Queensland South West region.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Possession of relevant formal vocational qualification/s at the level equivalent to or higher than the level to be delivered (i.e. industry qualification – certificate, trade certificate, diploma, degree or masters).

                   * Certificate IV in Hospitality; and / or

                   * Diploma of Hospitality

  • Working with Children Check (Blue Card).  Confirmation of employment is conditional upon the preferred applicant being issued with a Blue Card.  For further information, please access the Public Safety Business Agency’s Blue Card Services: http://www.bluecard.qld.gov.au/
  • Possession of one of the following training and assessment qualifications:
    • TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment plus TAELLN411 Address Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills;
    • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment;
    • TAE50116 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training; and
    • Higher level qualification in adult education (Bachelor or Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma) which includes a practicum component (refer Approved Higher Level Qualification list); and TAELLN411 Address Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills, or demonstrated equivalence;
    • Demonstrated current industry skills directly relevant to the training/assessment being undertaken.

Note: Proof of qualifications and industry currency/experience to be provided at interview.

Key Responsibilities

  • Display teaching competence/ability to acquire teaching competence.
  • Lead and manage teaching and learning for the classroom, industry, distance and web-based clients.
  • Utilise flexible, blended and distributed learning techniques, options and products to meet the changing needs of various client groups.
  • Develop effective working relationships with students, client groups and Institute staff by participating in team meetings, industry reference groups, student events and Institute forums.
  • Ensure that students/clients develop and practise accepted safety procedures in a learning environment.
  • Contribute to research and planning/programming, development, implementation and review of subjects/courses.
  • Participate in appropriate staff development programs to develop and maintain currency of personal and professional skills, knowledge and attitudes.
  • Establish and moderate evaluation and assessment systems that meet occupational skill standards (i.e. Standards for NVR Registered Training Organisations requirements) and that allow portability of credentials and credit transfer.

  3. Demonstrate capacity for leadership, self-management and ability to work effectively as a team member, with the capacity to accept, promote and manage change while utilising well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  4. Demonstrate commitment to self-development with the focus on qualifications/skills update and contemporary industry practices.
  5. Possess sound knowledge of safe, equitable and anti-discriminatory work practices and demonstrated ability to be flexible, responsive and deliver quality client service.
