We are currently looking for a reliable Kitchen Hand to work at Juniper's Numbala Nunga and Ngamang Bawoona facilities, located in the Kimberley town of Derby (approx. 2500km from Perth). Numbala Nunga and Ngamang Bawoona provide care for up to 43 residents in an enabling and culturally appropriate manner.
The purpose of this role is to provide assistance in the kitchen and common areas, while being responsible for cleaning of equipment and work areas. The duties of this role may vary depending upon the operational needs of the facility.
On offer for the successful candidate is a Part time (10hrs per fortnight minimum), or Casual position, working a variety of shifts and hours to cover planned and unplanned leave.
Key Responsibilities of this role:
- Preparing and presenting breakfast, serving of lunch and dinner
- Provide kitchen hand services at our facility that include; preparation of food, modifying food texture, apportioning food accurately and serving food to residents
- Demonstrate a high level of respect for residents’ property and privacy
- Safe use of equipment and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Adhere to Juniper's policies and procedures relating to Occupational Safety and Health
The Skills, Knowledge and Experience required:
- Experience in a commercial cooking environment or aged care catering (desirable)
- An understanding of safe food handling practice and hygiene standards
- Knowledge of relevant chemicals and safe handling practices and procedures
- An understanding of infection control procedures
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
