The Role
We have an exciting opportunity now available for an experienced Dental Assistant to work in our medical centre at the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre located in Deer Park, Victoria. The position is Part Time (1 day per week) with the chance of occasionally taking on more work. The role is an integral part of the primary healthcare team which is primarily responsible for providing high quality, efficient and effective clinical assistance to the Dentist. The Dental Assistant is responsible for ensuring the dental clinic runs smoothly and maintains vigilance in infection control.
This position reports directly to the on-site Health Services Manager, with professional accountability to the Chief Medical Officer. Requirements include a mature outlook and sound interpersonal skills that enable appropriate communication with patients in a correctional environment; and undertakes other duties as directed by the Health Services Manager and acts in accordance with legislation, the policies of Correct Care Australia Pty. Ltd, the Justice Health Quality Framework and the correctional facility's local operating procedures.
To be considered for this opportunity you must demonstrate the following:
- Certificate III in Dental Assisting
- Police check clearance.
- Working with children's check clearance
- A minimum of one year full time dental assisting experience
- Effective communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Demonstrated capacity to meet the above accountabilities.
- Intermediate to advanced PC skills, including word processing and spreadsheet applications and other data bases as required.
