About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Family Safety Counsellor (Partner Contact Worker) to join our growing Family Violence Intervention team.  This role will provide safety assessment, referral, case work, group work and therapeutic / counselling support to women partners, of men who use violence in the home.  The position may also provide information and secondary consultation to staff of LifeWorks, and external prescribed organisations.

Responsibilities will include:

  • focus on the partner and children’s, safety and wellbeing;
  • provision of safety assessment, direct support, referral, and case management for women partners and the children, of men who use violence against women and children;
  • provision of therapeutic and group work interventions; and
  • participation in family consultation, case planning and model development.

About you 

With tertiary qualifications in Social Work or a Behavioural / Social Science and / or postgraduate studies in family violence, and / or a minimum of 2 years' experience.  You will have demonstrated experience in counselling and assessment.  You will also have the ability to contribute to the team and to provide exceptional services, and to promote the profile of LifeWorks in the community. 

A professional in your field, you will have a clear understanding of the feminist framework and how male privilege impacts on our current social structures.  You are able to work independently, while working within a cohesive, committed and high performing team.  

Together with your exceptional level of ethical standards and well-developed interpersonal communication skills, you will have the capacity to work to high standards of practice.

Previous experience working in a family violence services system would be highly regarded.
